Finland’s leading daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat features Nordic Nano as a glimmer of hope

Nordic Nano appeared in Helsingin Sanomat, Finland’s largest daily newspaper, last weekend in an article focusing on Eastern Finland and the economic turmoil the region has endured in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. The company was highlighted as one bringing a much-needed glimmer of hope to the area.

In the article, CEO Esa Parjanen explains the motivations to ramp-up production in Imatra – one of the reasons being the active role of KEHY, Imatra regional development company. Nordic Nano had conducted discussions with couple of other potential regions for a production facility, but Imatra acted quicky and offered premises.

The site where production of solar film and battery cells will begin early next year was previously a shopping centre designed for cross-border trade. This signals the launch of operations expected to bring €17 million in investments and create 70 jobs at the abandoned retail location.

“Nordic Nano already has two anchor customers — one focused on harvesting solar energy from building surfaces, and the other requiring batteries for electric bikes,” Esa Parjanen told Helsingin Sanomat readers.

Helsingin Sanomat, abbreviated HS and colloquially known as Hesari, is the largest subscription newspaper in Finland and the Nordic countries, owned by Sanoma.
