Nordic Nano’s two product families, NN Solar™ and NN Storage™, have a lot to offer for terrestrial applications, including self-sustaining buildings with energy-generating roofs, solar parks, and properties designed for energy self-sufficiency with advanced energy storage systems. Now, it’s time to explore how the NN products can contribute to extra-terrestrial solutions as part of satellite and other space applications.

The company has been selected as one of the four Finnish companies to participate in the 12 month’s ESA Business Incubator Centre (BIC) Finland programme.

“Satellite manufacturers particularly value the compact size, lightweight design, mouldability and non-explosive nature of our solutions. Our expertise lies in developing high-performance solar energy harvesting and storage solutions without degradation, optimising energy efficiency, and aiming at non-toxic solutions.” says Ville Jokelainen, Nordic Nano’s Partner, Supply Chain & New Product Introduction.

Ville continues by sharing positive updates on the initial discussions held with established space industry leaders as part of Nordic Nano’s acceptance into the ESA BIC Finland programme. Additionally, the fact that Nordic Nano’s partners and suppliers are sourced from networks within the European Union and allied countries has generated strong interest among potential space industry customers.

Nordic Nano’s primary objective in joining this programme is to enhance its offerings to better support the European Space Tech industry. Ville adds: Terrestrial tests of our capabilities in harsh Earth conditions are yielding highly promising results, demonstrating potential to also serve customers and partners operating in e.g., low orbits and why not later in the Moon and Mars. Through our participation in ESA BIC activities, we can accelerate our testing programme and streamline our development cycles.”

More information about the program and Nordic Nano’s participation can be found in ESA BIC Finland’s press release published today, here is the link.
